On Monday Premier Mike Baird announced his 12 priorities for the state at a lunch hosted by IPA and NCOSS.

The prioirities cover a range of issues the state needs to be tackling but the commitments in particular around domestic and family violence, around youth homelessness, around young people at risk of harm and on boosting jobs were welcome.

A commitment to tackling these issues will require work across government departments, it will require an integrated service response and a real focus on people to deliver what will genuinely work for them.

The health and community services sector stands ready to ensure the targets set out by the Premier are met in the best way for people on the ground. It was disappointing to see some some key issues remain outside of these priority areas but NCOSS will continue to engage with the government on how these areas can be progressed.
