A report by NCOSS and Impact Economics and Policy

Sponsored by HESTA

As a major employer of women, the social services sector is just as critical to achieving gender equity in NSW as it is to building a strong and resilient economy, and supporting people through tough times.

In a joint report for International Women’s Day 2022 from the NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) and Impact Economics and Policy, we take a closer look at how the social services sector in NSW is delivering for women working in the sector. We also consider the strategies needed to underpin the sector’s potential to address gender equity into the future, provide rewarding careers and support the NSW economy.

You can read the report here. To see how female workers are fairing , you can read more about the results of the NCOSS survey of the NSW social services sector here.

The 'A long way to the top' report was launched at a webinar event to celebrate International Women's Day 2022 on Friday 11 March, involving Impact Economics and Policy’s Lead Economist, Dr Angela Jackson, and a panel of three extraordinary women CEOs. The recording of this webinar is available below and Dr Jackson’s presentation from the webinar is here.
