The Policy and Development Officer works within the Policy, Education and Research Unit and reports to the Manager, Policy & Research. The Policy and Development Officer is responsible for supporting and contributing to the work of the Carers NSW Policy Team by undertaking research, consultation, policy analysis and systemic advocacy in relation to issues affecting carers.

Essential Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following Essential Criteria:

  •  Qualifications in Social or Political Science, Public Health or other relevant areas
  • Understanding of NSW and Australian Government policy development
  • Demonstrated skills in preparing reports and other documents to a high standard
  • Proven track record in liaising and building effective relationships with government, non government and community organisations
  • Demonstrated ability to represent Carers NSW policy positions and to speak publicly
  • Demonstrated research skills, including the ability to collate data and formulate policy statements and responses to sector inquiries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
