ABOUT THE ROLE

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Intake and Assessment Officer to join our team in our Surry Hills office. This role joins a growing and collaborative team that is responsible for the intake and assessment of new and existing clients who contact Seniors Rights Service and ensures that everyone who approaches Seniors Rights Service is supported in accessing our services, provided with relevant information and appropriate referrals.

This role has access to hybrid work arrangements which include a blend of office-based and remote working arrangements. This position is offered on a full-time max-term contract arrangement to the end of June 2025, aligning with our current funding period.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide client-driven, person-centered intake and assessment services to older people, their families and carers in relation to our services
  • Assisting people to access our services and ensure follow up of all enquiries about Seniors Rights Service from a range of stakeholders
  • Process client referrals from intake to service commencement or closure in an effective and timely manner
  • Collecting relevant information from older people, their family, carer and/or advocate and other support providers either by phone or email
  • Effective communication with older people, their family and/or advocates, ensuring that relevant and comprehensive information is provided
  • Be skilled in being culturally responsive to diverse communities
  • Where Seniors Rights Service is unable to provide the service, provide the caller with a referral to an alternative service where appropriate
  • Undertake record keeping and data input

Qualifications

ABOUT YOU

  1. Tertiary qualifications, or working towards completion, in counselling, psychology, social work, behavioural science or a related field or relevant equivalent experience
  2. Demonstrated experience in a customer service role, ideally in intake and assessment
  3. Exceptional customer service and phone handling skills
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic customer service in a professional manner
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of older people and to prioritise tasks
  6. Excellent computer skills, fluent in Microsoft Office 365 and experience in data entry
  7. Demonstrated ability to work in a challenging and demanding environment
  8. High level of resilience and self-care practices in place
  9. Commitment to ongoing professional development
  10. Willingness to obtain an annual flu vaccination, be fully COVID vaccinated and hold a valid federal police record check
