NCOSS, with the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation and icare foundation, are excited to announce the six shortlisted initiatives for our inaugural Investing for Good (I4G) Pitch.

Taking place on Wednesday 8 November, I4GPitch allows 6 outstanding social service organisations to ‘pitch’ for up to $50,000 in grant funding from the icare foundation I4GPitch Fund, and ongoing impact investment readiness capacity building support.

We were overwhelmed by the number of organisations who applied for the I4GPitch, the level of innovation was exciting and inspiring. We would like to congratulate the following organisations for their successful applications to the I4GPitch.

Diabetes Qualified
With the rise of Type 2 Diabetes across society, impacts are being felt on both the health system and workplace productivity, not to mention the personal impact on people’s lives and wellbeing. Diabetes Qualified aims to create online education resources for people living with Diabetes to substantially increase the number of people receiving qualified advice, and to relieve pressure on the health system.

Holdsworth Community
Holdsworth is passionate about supporting older Sydney residents to remain active participants in their community. They strongly believe that ongoing participation and intergenerational social connection adds significantly to the quality of later life, contributes to a healthier urban community for everyone and reduces the level of preventable hospital admissions. Holdsworth is seeking support to develop a robust business model for a Homeshare program in key urban areas in NSW.

Gurehlgam
Gurehlgam is an Aboriginal owned and run organisation that delivers services to the Aboriginal communities on the North and Mid-North Coast. Gurehlgam has been searching for ways to get marginalised kids interested in ideas - not teaching but wanting to learn. Gurehlgam is looking to develop a business case for The Indigenous Innovation Centre - a space where Indigenous youth can be creative.

One Vision Productions
One Vision Productions uses arts based programs to empower young people to make positive life choices and reach their highest potential. The OVP Creative Hub in Byron Bay will allow the organisation to create a viable business venture while developing a vibrant, community cultural hub that delivers tailored programs in the creative industries that will improve the social, educational and employment outcomes of young people throughout the Northern Rivers.

South Coast Women's Health & Welfare (Waminda)
Waminda is owned and run by Aboriginal women, providing health and welfare services for women and their families living in the Shoalhaven and South Coast of NSW. As one of the largest employers of Indigenous women in the state, Waminda provides culturally safe pathways to experience the work environment, gain new skills, access training and educational opportunities and gain sustainable employment. Waminda hopes to be able to expand their recently developed hospitality based social enterprise project known as ‘Nyully Tucker’.

Youth Food Movement Australia
The Youth Food Movement Australia exists to grow the next generation of leaders to unbreak our food system. They are seeking support to scale up their current leadership program, Upstart, which aims to understand the complexities facing the Australian food system, and provides training in the skills young adults require in the face of a changing workforce landscape and allowing us to address human capital shortages within the food and agriculture sectors.

Starting Monday 16 October, the shortlisted organisations will go into a period of intensive pitch training to prepare for the I4GPitch Event. Training will be led by The Difference incubator (TDi) and the NSW Government’s Office of Social Impact Investment.

The I4GPitch Event is a half-day event with an invitation-only audience of 100 high-profile guests, including government, philanthropists, corporate partners and investors. The only one of its kind in Australia, the I4GPitch is designed to convene, collaborate with and support outstanding social service organisations from across NSW, where there is scope to develop a sustainable business idea, attract social investment and scale impact.

The I4GPitch is part of the Investing for Good Conference and Marketplace which is being held on 9 November 2017. I4G is a platform for organisations, government and investors to come together to explore pathways to financial sustainability and social impact investment. Join us at the conference to learn more, to network and to build confidence in impact investment.
