About us

Platform Youth Services is a growing not-for-profit youth homelessness service, supporting vulnerable young people in the area for over 40 yrs.

Platform is looking for motivated and dedicated Residential Youth Workers to join our dynamic team. The work consists of supporting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The young people can present with complex needs and behaviours as a result of having experienced levels of trauma.

As this work is Crisis accommodation, this would involve you having the flexibility to work across multiple site locations, overnight shifts and weekend shifts.

We are looking for committed people to actively engage with the young people and help them build individual capacity while empowering them to lead enriched and meaningful lives, all while looking for people who are experienced in providing residential support to young people.

Position details
Essential Selection Criteria:
  • Minimum Diploma, Certificate IV in Youth Work/Community Services or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum 12 months experience working with at risk of homelessness young people in particular Crisis and Transitional Accommodation programs
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of best-practice for SHS funded Youth Services.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to follow the routines and protocols in the setting in which you work and document accurately
  • Assist with the life skill development program with young people in house
  • Computer proficiency
  • Demonstrated experience to work with high and complex clients with a history of complex trauma
  • Current first aid certificate
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Current Working with Children clearance
  • National Police Check (2 years)
Desirable Selection Criteria:
  • Training Identify and Respond to Risk of Harm
  • Cultural awareness training
  • Youth Mental health First Aid

Demonstrated competence in Work Health and Safety and food handling
