About us

Platform Youth Services is a growing not-for-profit based youth homelessness service, that has provided holistic services to vulnerable young people who are at risk of homelessness or who are experiencing homelessness in the Nepean, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury areas for over 40 yrs.


Platform is looking for experienced, motivated and dedicated Case Workers to join our dynamic team. We are looking for people to actively engage with young people and help them build individual capacity while empowering them to lead enriched and meaningful lives.


The Case Worker will work within the philosophy of the service to ensure that the most appropriate and effective services are provided to young people who are at risk of homelessness or who are experiencing homelessness and where appropriate, their families. The Case Workers will provide Case Management and support to clients across the spectrum of projects offered by Platform Youth Services, assisting clients in family restoration or to assist them to move to or maintain accommodation using the Specialist Homeless Services (SHS formerly SAAP) definition of Case Management. Where homelessness or housing is not an issue – provide appropriate referrals.


These positions could involve you having the flexibility to work across multiple site locations, across Nepean, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury areas. The contract is in line with and dependant on funding.


Interviews will be schedules for Monday 10th February 2020.

Position details
Essential Selection Criteria:
  • Minimum Diploma in Youth Work/Community Services;
  • Minimum 12 months experience working with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Demonstrated understanding of client-centric and trauma informed practice
  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable young people with high and complex needs
  • Ability to consider and adjust to the needs of participants, families, carers and the wider community.
  • Ability to think innovatively and creatively to develop tailored client solutions
  • Ability to maintain an ethical, inclusive and non-judgemental attitude.
  • Excellent communication, collaborative, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated written communication, and ability to keep accurate documents
  • Ability to work autonomously and also as a part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to use online case management systems and computer proficiency
  • Current first aid certificate
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Current Working with Children clearance
  • National Police Check (2 years)
Desirable Selection Criteria:
  • Knowledge of best-practice for SHS funded Youth Services.
  • Previous experience working in Crisis and Transitional Accommodation programs
  • Training in Identify and Respond to Risk of Harm
  • Cultural awareness training and Youth Mental health First Aid

Demonstrated competence in Work Health and Safety and food handling
