The Manager, Homelessness Industry and Workforce Development Strategy (the Strategy) will be responsible for oversighting the strategic direction and development of the Strategy.  The Strategy is an innovative partnership between the three peaks Homelessness NSW, Domestic Violence NSW and Yfoundations. Homelessness NSW auspices the Strategy on behalf of Domestic Violence NSW and YFoundations.

The Homelessness Industry and Workforce Development Strategy aims to support the Specialist Homelessness Services sector to meet quality requirements, undertake sector networking, develop sector outcomes and support workforce development, including a Learning and Development Program. It includes a range of projects, resources and tools to achieve these goals.

Key objectives of the position

The position will lead the strategic direction, implementation and delivery of the Homelessness Industry and Workforce Development Strategy.

Duties

The key responsibilities of the position are to:

  • Lead the strategic development and growth of the Homelessness Industry and Workforce Development Strategy
  • Keep abreast of homelessness policy and service delivery, particularly in NSW
  • Keep abreast of NGO industry and workforce development particularly approaches to quality and learning and development
  • Develop, manage and monitor strategic frameworks and multiple projects
  • Liaise with homelessness organisations, government agencies and other stakeholders
  • Prepare performance reports and other documents
  • Manage a small team to deliver the Homelessness Industry and Workforce Development Strategy.

Reporting

Staff reporting to this position – 2 x Project Managers; 2 x Project Officers

The Manager, Homelessness Industry and Workforce Development Strategy reports to the CEO, Homelessness NSW.

About us

Homelessness NSW is a not for profit organisation that operates as a peak agency for its 125 member organisations to end homelessness in NSW. Our members include small, locally based community organisations, multiservice agencies with a regional reach and large state-wide service providers.

Homelessness NSW has a vision of NSW where no-one is homeless or at risk of homelessness. Its purpose is to advocate and provide leadership on homelessness issues across NSW and to support effective service delivery to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Homelessness NSW:

  • develops and assesses policies that impact on homelessness
  • advocates to Governments, business and the broader community to improve policy and program initiatives that affect homelessness
  • provides extensive information and education about the causes of homelessness and the diverse program and service delivery approaches that are taken to tackle it;
  • provides significant amounts of support and advice regarding organisational change and development and service delivery design in the homelessness sector
  • works collaboratively with other peak housing, homelessness and broader human services organisations at the NSW and national level to advocate for an end to homelessness
Position details
Essential Selection Criteria:
  1. Demonstrates high quality strategic development skills
  2. Demonstrates high quality project management skills, including contract management
  3. Experience in industry and workforce development, particularly quality systems and/or learning and development
  4. Demonstrates an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, manage budgets and problem solve
  5. Demonstrates strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  6. Demonstrates leadership in creating and sustaining networks, and building effective partnerships with a range of stakeholders
  7. Ability to manage sensitive issues
  8. Ability to work independently and lead a small team
Other Information:

The position is paid at $108,000 per annum and is available on a full time basis (although part-time is negotiable).  Salary sacrificing is available.

The position is funded until 30 June 2020.
