About us

Bravery Trust is a unique nationally operated ACNC registered military charity that changes lives by ensuring current and former members of the Australian Defence Force, and their families, do not suffer because of their service.  We provide urgent financial support to those who have suffered injury or illness as a result of their service.   


You will be part of a dynamic Applications team that is responsible for delivering holistic and professional services to our Beneficiaries.  The position includes working with our Applicants and Beneficiaries to assess their eligibility for financial assistance, providing emotional support, reviewing applications, connecting our Beneficiaries to other services and thinking outside the box.  The work we do is critical, and we aim to quickly achieve an outcome for our Beneficiaries with respect and dignity. 

Position details
  • Formal Tertiary Education (minimum of Certificate IV Welfare/Community Services or equivalent experience) 

  • At least three years’ experience working in the Welfare/Community Services sector 

Essential Selection Criteria:
  • National Police Check 

  • Understanding of those experiencing mental illness, disabilities, alcohol/ drug dependency, impaired cognitive issues and families in crisis 

  • Ability to take a proactive and solution focused approach in assisting Applicants and Beneficiaries 

  • Understanding of case management 

  • Be an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills together with having compassion and empathy 

  • Demonstrated administrative and computer skills 

  • Ability to work autonomously and be a flexible member of the team 

  • Ability to undertake complex telephone assessments, obtain accurate information and prioritise actions 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise workload in a constantly changing and high-volume environment 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the community sector  

  • Passion for being part of a dynamic team with the ability to contribute to a positive organisational culture 

Desirable Selection Criteria:
  • An understanding of the complex challenges faced by Serving and Ex-Serving Defence members and their families 

  • Flexibility and availability to work out of standard hours, if required 

  • A willingness to partake in further professional development  

  • Able to compile grant applications
