NCOSS is looking for a Project Director for our Community Organisations Disaster Adaptation (CODA) Project.

The CODA Project is jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments under the Disaster Ready Fund to build disaster preparedness and resilience among not-for-profit social service organisations and people most vulnerable to disaster impacts, and to strengthen connections and cooperation between the community, local social service organisations and Emergency Management authorities in actions to reduce local disaster risks. The Project Director is responsible for the strategic leadership of the project including development, implementation, day-to-day management, reporting and evaluation.

You’ll be a great fit for the role if you have:

  • A proven track record in the strategic leadership and the provision of strategic advice
  • Advanced project management and project delivery skills, ensuring the timely achievement of project objectives and milestones within budget
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, including government, NSW social service organisations, and community-based groups
  • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts simply and succinctly and to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and appropriately adapt key messages to different audiences
  • A well-developed understanding of the emergency management framework in NSW, the intersections between the impacts of disasters and poverty and disadvantage, and the challenges facing the NSW social services sector in this space
  • A commitment to social justice, an understanding of how economic, social and environmental factors contribute to inequality and disadvantage and you share NCOSS’ vision of a NSW free from poverty and disadvantage.
