PHFS is currently seeking TWO qualified Caseworkers with experience supporting women and children impacted by domestic violence, for their Staying Home Leaving Violence Project.

Project:

Casework and community development program enabling women (and children) ending a violent relationship to remain in their own home or home of their choice.  This project will assess safety needs, seek to improve social, health, economic and legal outcomes for families, reduce homelessness and promote accountability for offenders of violence, through client focused case management, advocacy and community education.

Salary Range: SCHCADS Award Level 5 (Above Award) Pay Point to be determined based on experience

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications e.g: Social Work, Social Sciences
  • Minimum two years demonstrated experience working with women and children impacted by family violence
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the complex issues affecting women and children who have experienced family violence, including mental health, disability and homelessness
  • Demonstrated experience providing client focused, collaborative, flexible, case management, including developing case plans, undertaking risk assessments, conducting home visits, providing information and referral and advocacy
  • Demonstrated experience networking and working collaboratively with other stakeholders both internal and external
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills both day to day and in crisis situations
  • Ability to work both independently and within a small team
  • High level of computer literacy (including Office 365 and online information client management systems)
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current legislation and frameworks relevant to the protection of Victims of domestic violence in NSW (i.e. ADVO)
  • Understanding of contemporary domestic violence practice, including the gendered nature of violence and working with trauma
  • Understanding and commitment to supporting Aboriginal and CALD families, ensuring a culturally responsive approach
  • Experience in, and willingness to deliver education programs to a variety of cohorts
  • Current driver’s licence and comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) (or willingness to obtain)
  • Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable Criteria

  • Ability to speak a community language (Arabic, Hindi, Dari/Farsi, Tamil)
  • An understanding of not for profit organisations
  • Experience in delivering groupwork programs
