The Northern Rivers Women and Children’s Services Inc. (NORWACS) is currently seeking expressions of interest from individuals interested in joining our Board.

NORWACS is a feminist organisation that inspires, supports and advocates for women in the Northern Rivers community to be well, safe, strong and empowered to thrive. Women are considered to be all those who experience or have experienced oppression as women, including cisgender, transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming people, and all those who identify as women.

The purpose of the NORWACS board is to oversee the operations and strategic direction of the organisation as a whole, and the services and initiatives that make it up: The Lismore Women’s Health and Resource Centre, Women in Social Enterprise (WISE) and Heartfelt House. We are seeking several new Board members who can support our strategic priorities: Improving all women’s health and wellbeing; strengthening community capacity building; targeted and effective communication and promotion; and best practice organisational development.

We are seeking expressions of interest from people from diverse cultural, educational and professional backgrounds. Age is no limit, there is no too old or too young. Being a board member is a volunteer position and requires a minimum commitment of 4-5 hours a month. The skills NORWACS is seeking in their Board members are outlined below:

·        Accounting

·        Finance

·        Law

·        Marketing

·        IT

·        Public relations

·        Experience in developing & implementing risk management

·        HR management

·        CEO/Senior Management experience

·        Governance

·        Strategy development & implementation.

The NORWACS Board meets monthly in Lismore, with the option of joining remotely as required.

Northern Rivers Women and Children’s Services Incorporated (NORWACS) is a feminist, community-based charity that provides health and wellbeing services for the diversity of women and their children, in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

Our services recognise and challenge the effects of sex-role stereotyping and gender discrimination on women’s health and wellbeing. We work to empower women to determine their individual health needs and to make and access evidence informed choices.

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:
Lismore Women’s Health and Resource Centre, WISE: Women in Social Enterprise, and Heartfelt House: Support for women survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
