The Organisation
Mary’s House Services (MHS), including Mary’s House Refuge and the Daisy Centre outreach service, is a 100% community funded organisation on Sydney’s lower north shore providing best -practice domestic violence services to women and children of all cultures and denominations when they are at their most vulnerable.
Backed by a community who are engaged in the conversation about gender based violence and committed to reducing the impact on women and their children, MHS offers informed, professional case management addressing housing options, health, education, legal and financial issues and referral to appropriate counselling and other services.
The Role
You will lead the organisation’s strategy to consolidate and further build on services, relationships and supports, growing the engagement and mobilisation of a community who say NO to domestic violence. Together with identifying opportunities to increase impact and awareness, you’ll ensure the ongoing sustainability of the organisation and the provision of quality, trauma informed services and advocacy. Other aspects of the role include:
- Managing a passionate, committed, multidisciplinary team
- Increasing reach and representation in the community
- Developing and nurturing sector relationships and partnerships
- Engagement with a range of stakeholders for fundraising and to gain in-kind support
- Managing financial performance, risk, compliance and board reporting

Skills Required
You are an inspirational and impact driven leader, having developed your executive career ideally in community focused sectors including health, youth justice, women, child and family services.
Your operational management skills are at the core of your success, and you’re a skilled advocate and networker who is comfortable being the public face of the organisation including seeking and participating in public speaking and community engagement opportunities. You also bring:
- Diligent quality and compliance focus and understanding of clinical governance
- Success engaging and working with key stakeholders to secure support or effect change
- Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, its dynamics and effects
- Experience engaging with a board, ensuring organisational governance, risk management and financial sustainability
