The role We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identified financial counsellor, or soon to be qualified financial counsellor. This is a full-time, permanent position, however part-time arrangements will be considered. Please see the position description for further details on the role. What’s in it for you? We are doing important frontline work advising consumers from across Australia about their rights and helping shape new laws in the aftermath of the Royal Commission. You will be an important part of this process and can help change many consumer lives for the better. The Centre offers a pleasant working environment along with a small, friendly and supportive team. Salary and benefits The salary range for this role on a full time basis is $72,360-$79,678 plus 9.5% superannuation contribution. Currently approved arrangements with the Australian Taxation Office allow the Centre (as a Public Benevolent Institution) to pay a portion of gross salary as an untaxed Fringe Benefit with the remainder taxed at the applicable rate. In addition to being a flexible workplace, Financial Rights offers a 35 hour working week, 7 days’ time in lieu leave on top of 4 weeks annual leave. These entitlement are pro-rated for part-time working arrangements.

Financial Rights Legal Centre

Financial Rights Legal Centre Inc (Financial Rights) is a community based legal centre in Surry Hills specialising in helping consumers of financial services, particularly credit, banking, insurance and debt. The centre focuses on issues that affect vulnerable and disadvantaged consumers. Since 2018, Financial Rights has been operating Mob Strong Debt Help, a national telephone service dedicated to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander callers providing free financial counselling and legal assistance for credit and insurance matters.
