About the role

As State Manager, Migration Support Programs, you will provide strategic and adaptive operational leadership across NSW and ACT to meet the emerging and changing needs of migrants in transition. You will work collaboratively with State Managers leading Migration Support Programs in other states & territories as well as being part of the Migration Support Program leadership team at a National Level.

You are a key people leader at Red Cross, leading a team of 60 people in six locations (Sydney CBD, Blacktown, Wollongong, Wagga, Albury, Canberra) managing a portfolio of migration programs that deliver humanitarian outcomes and contribute to building welcoming communities.  Programs focus on regional refugee settlement and employment support; supporting survivors of trafficking, modern slavery and forced marriage; financial support for temporary visa holders escaping family and domestic violence; and emergency relief support to meet basic needs.

Through a collaborative approach, you will build sector, community, government and business understanding (including through training and capacity building) of key areas of nationwide focus for Red Cross as well as driving responses on localised needs, gaps and emerging issues. You will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of all Migration Support Programs in the state/territory in accordance with the program sub-strategy and in compliance with financial sustainability requirements.

Additionally, you will embed migrants in transition as an integrated approach through leading collaboration across Red Cross locations and areas, and through leading projects and building partnerships to achieve strategic outcomes. As a senior people leader, you will also build a culture of high performance, collaboration and innovation through an adaptive human centred approach.

What you will bring

  • Substantial experience in developing partnerships across community, business and government sectors and creating/ceasing opportunities for revenue generation
  • Comprehensive understanding of issues affecting people impacted by migration, and their vulnerabilities, needs and strengths
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work with and lead teams of people from diverse backgrounds
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislative, policies and frameworks and proven ability to manage risks and provide expert advice
  • Ability to operate under limited direction and exercise managerial responsibility to manage, develop and coach people
  • Proven ability to work across multiple functions and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

A Working with Children Check and Drivers Licence are mandatory requirements for this role.
