WHOS Hawkesbury Day Program, located at Windsor, has a position available for an Aboriginal Engagement Worker on a part time basis. The position is 15 hours per week, days and hours negotiable.

This position is available to Aboriginal applicants only.

Key responsibilities for the position are to support the provision of services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.

The successful applicant will:

  • Address harmful AOD use as it impacts Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Provide assessment, referral, case work, and group support
  • Support the development of culturally appropriate service delivery
  • Build linkages and liaise with allied service providers, in particular Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander services
  • Provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to remain connected with the service

Remuneration:

SCHADSI Award, based on qualifications and experience. Salary packaging is available.

Essential Criteria

Being an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational requirement for this position.

  • Qualifications, or willingness to obtain, in AOD, Community Services, or related fields
  • Knowledge of AOD, mental health, Aboriginal health, or a related field
  • Knowledge of AOD Harm Reduction approach
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal specific AOD, health and community services in the Hawkesbury region
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current driver's license
