ABOUT COTA NSW

Council on the Ageing (COTA) NSW is the leading not-for-profit organisation representing the rights and interests of people over 50 in NSW. We’re an independent, consumer-based, non-government organisation. We are determined to ensure that older people's contributions to society are valued and that they have access to the opportunities other members of the community take for granted. We work with politicians, policymakers, service providers, and the media to ensure that older people's views are heard and acted on.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll report to our Policy and Research Lead but work closely with the whole team, giving you broad exposure across the organisation. It’s a diverse role where no two days look the same. You’ll help shape policy positions, contribute to research that brings older people’s voices to the fore, and support events and forums that build community and influence decision-makers.

You’ll also be involved in engaging our members and stakeholders, assisting with media and communications, and pitching in to keep the office running smoothly. This means everything from preparing briefing notes, coordinating meetings, and keeping our systems and records up to date, to responding to inquiries and engaging directly with older people in the community.

A 12 month contract is on offer with possibility of renewal.

ABOUT YOU

You’re a clear communicator who enjoys writing, talking to people, and making information easy to understand. You’re organised, care about fairness and older people’s wellbeing, and have a solid base across key skills that you’re keen to grow. You’re comfortable using everyday tech, happy to pitch in wherever needed, and excited to build your experience in policy, research, events and engagement as part of a supportive team.
