Positive Life is seeking a suitably skilled person to work as a Silver Warriors Program Officer up to September 2020 (with the option to extend subject to funding).

The objectives of the role is to offer one-on one support to ageing PLHIV so they can (1) effectively navigate and access aged care, disability and healthcare services, and (2) maximise community engagement, health outcomes and independent living arrangements (for as long as possible) in collaboration with HIV, ageing and social service partners.

The position is a part-time fixed term contract at 30.4 hours per fortnight (two days per week), employed against the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Industry award (2010) and reporting directly to the CEO of Positive Life NSW. Salary will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s skills and experience, with an additional 9.5% contribution to Superannuation. Salary packaging is an option for all employees. The location is office-based in Surry Hills, NSW.

Essential Selection Criteria:

Selection Criteria:
1. Tertiary qualifications in health, community services, social work or a related field and/or extensive experience in support service provision
2. Demonstrated detailed knowledge of HIV and ageing, related health and social issues, including multi-morbidities and psycho-social concerns, particularly mental health, neurocognitive impairments and alcohol and other drug issues
3. Recent experience in patient advocacy and aged care services
4. A demonstrated commitment to HIV populations throughout NSW
5. Able to work independently and productively as a team member, contributing to a respectful and cohesive office environment and the ability to prioritise workload demands
6. Commitment to consumer engagement, consultation and participation in service planning and implementation of quality improvement programs
7. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering workshops, seminars or training programs
8. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written and internet skills and the ability to communicate effectively and credibly with a wide range of people
9. Ability to establish, develop and maintain links and partnerships with peers, community organisations and health, ageing and NDIS service providers
