About us

Survivors & Mates Support Network (SAMSN) is a not-for-profit, non-religious organisation that provides services and support for male survivors of child sexual abuse across Australia. We deliver groups and workshops for men, their families, service providers and health professionals, while working to increase public awareness of the effects that childhood sexual abuse can have on men and their families.

Here is your chance to join our team and work for a growing and respected NGO. We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Planned Support Worker to join our team working from offices in Parramatta.

Working closely with the Clinical Services Manager and the SAMSN team, you will make a real difference in the lives of men and their families, supporting them in addressing their ongoing needs.

Position details
Essential Selection Criteria:
  • Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or related discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics and impacts of child sexual abuse across the lifespan, including mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues, and relational difficulties.
  • An understanding of trauma informed practice in working with survivors of childhood trauma.
  • Preferably, experience in counselling and support to survivors of childhood trauma.
  • Knowledge of and experience of dealing with organisations and systems that provide key services such as Centrelink, housing and health services and victim services.

Your Salary:

Upon appointment the successful applicant will be remunerated according to their qualifications and experience.  As SAMSN is a registered charity you will benefit from a tax-free salary component of up to $18,550.  SAMSN also offers its staff a supportive and flexible work environment and provides ongoing professional development.
