Using your specialised knowledge of adoptions, the position provides specialised advice and knowledge to the broader team regarding adoptions from out-of-home care or local adoptions.


With compassion and empathy to all, you will be focused largely on supporting birth and adoptive families post adoption and assisting with reunions between adopted adults and their birth families.


Your case work experience and specialist adoptions knowledge will support birth and adoptive families by focusing on their strengths and capabilities during counselling and by sharing specialist knowledge, founded on the accumulated wisdom of the impact of adoption.

Position details
Essential Selection Criteria:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline such as Social Work, Psychology or Family Therapy
  • Adoption counselling credentials
  • Demonstrated experience  working with adoptive parents, pre-adoptive parents, and birth parents considering adoption
  • Strong understanding of the relevant legislation related to adoptions and experience formalising adoptions
  • Experience in working with children and young people, as well as, at risk families and/or out-of-home care
  • Conflict resolution and mediation skills and highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Sound computer literacy skills
  • Willingness and capacity to undertake weekend shifts for training and other activities
  • Strong commitment to, and passion for the mission of a Catholic agency and willingness to work in alignment to the principles of Catholic Social Teachings and other Church teachings
  • Current Working with Children Check clearance
  • Current and valid driver’s licence and access to a well-maintained vehicle which will be used for work purposes
Other Information:

This is a full-time maternity leave coverage opportunity until August 2020, with access to salary packaging and RDO’s.
