As part of We Help Ourselves, WHOS Hunter is an AOD residential service for both men and women, located at Cessnock in the beautiful Hunter Valley.  We require motivated and enthusiastic persons to fill AOD Community Services Worker positions. The positions need professional persons to deliver quality services for substance dependence within a residential therapeutic community setting.
We are looking for Casual and Permanent Part Time staff members.

About us

WHOS provides therapeutic programs aimed at achieving recovery from alcohol and other drug dependence, incorporating harm reduction and co-existing mental health initiatives. 

Position details
Essential Selection Criteria:
  • Minimum Certificate IV in AOD/Community Services 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working with AOD clients, preferably in a residential setting
  • An interest in working with both men and women and an understanding of their related issues
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy and word processing skills
  • Group work skills 
  • Knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation 
  • Ability to work evening and weekend shifts
  • Commitment to working as part of a team
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Criminal Record Check before commencement
Desirable Selection Criteria:
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Therapeutic Community model 
Other Information:

Remuneration: Negotiated based on qualifications and experience equivalent to SCHADS Award.
