We are seeking to fill an additional full time Assistant Coordinator position in SWSWDVCAS. You will be part of a team committed to eliminating violence against women and their children.

The Assistant Coordinator supports the Coordinator in the overall administration and Coordination of the SWSWDVCAS, whilst maintaining direct engagement with WDVCAS clients.

The Assistant Coordinator exercises a high level of responsibility and provides high level expert advice.

Applicants should have a commitment to empowering women and children affected by Domestic and Family Violence, and have demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis.

SWSLC auspices several domestic violence programs, including the South West Sydney Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (SWSWDVCAS).

Position details
Essential Selection Criteria:
  • Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics, complexities and legal and social welfare consequences of Domestic and Family Violence;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to Domestic and Family Violence including ADVO applications and criminal prosecutions and related legal matters such as family law, care and protection, migration and victim’s compensation issues;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Legal Aid NSW policies in relation to grants of legal aid for people in domestic and family violence matters;
  • Ability to deliver services in accordance with the WDVCAS Service Agreement, WDVCAP Principles, Policies and Standards and other operational documents;
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and management skills;
  • Good financial skills;
  • Ability to implement service delivery strategies aimed at ensuring the relevance, accessibility and responsiveness of WDVCAS services to a diverse range of women and children;
  • Experience in maintaining constructive working relationships with key stakeholders and good networking skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution; and
  • Knowledge of and an ability to work effectively with interpreter services
Desirable Selection Criteria:
  • Direct experience working in the legal system and Courts.
  • Local knowledge of South West Sydney area and it’s community service’s network
  • Good computer literacy - ability to use word processing software including Outlook, Word and Excel.
