Project Officer Health Promotion  

Part time 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE – 3 days per week)

Fixed term contract to June 30 2020 (renewal subject to ongoing funding)

$40,469 to $44,870 (per annum plus superannuation and annual leave loading)

We are seeking a highly motivated person to join our Health Promotion and Community Support team.  Reporting to the Programs Manager, you will have the responsibility of supporting the Coordinator, Health Promotion, to support the delivery of education, workforce development and capacity building activities. 

Your demonstrated experience includes:

  • Developing, delivering, and evaluating education and training programs to build workforce and organisational capacity
  • Program planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Delivery of health information to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive partner relationships 
  • An understanding of access and equity issues in the provision of health care
  • An understanding of quality assurance and governance frameworks


You will have the ability to develop a thorough understanding of medical and social implications of viral hepatitis, including the impact of stigma and discrimination as it relates to access to health care. 

You also have relevant qualifications or experience in public health, social services, health or education, excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional organisational abilities.

About us


We are a not-for-profit charity started by the hepatitis community. We are a team of 19 paid staff assisted by 30-40 committed volunteers.

We provide information, support, referral and advocacy for people affected by viral hepatitis in NSW. We also provide workforce development and education services both to prevent the transmission of viral hepatitis and to improve services for those affected by it.

We strive to be representative of people affected by viral hepatitis and work actively in partnership with other organisations and with the affected communities themselves to bring about improvements in quality of life, information, support and treatment, and to prevent hepatitis B and C transmission

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in a social services, health, public health, or education field
  • Demonstrated experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience in client focused service provision
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of group work and/or adult education
  • Thorough understanding of access, equity, participation, and equality issues, and delivery of healthcare and welfare services
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills with proven ability to consult and liaise on all levels
  • Highly developed organisational abilities and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem solving abilities 
  • An ability to work with minimal supervision and operate cooperatively as a member of a small team
  • An ability to develop a thorough understanding of medical and social implications of hepatitis B and C infection, as well as an understanding of injecting drug use issues and harm minimisation concepts, both in the broader community and correctional setting
  • Current NSW driver’s licence
  • Willingness to travel within NSW
  • Willingness to work with people who inject drugs, and in a range of settings, such as AOD, NSP, custodial and residential rehabilitation settings
