Women’s Services, part of our BaptistCare Community Services Division located in Penrith –is currently seeking a part time CALD Case Worker (Female Only) to join our team. This role will support the Women’s Services CALD program by providing individual support to women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in outreach, drop in, and in one on one appointments. You will be required to work with clients in Thai as well as English and be comfortable translating between languages. Women’s Services work within a trauma informed care, strengths based and harm minimisation framework- working to support women and transgender women involved in the sex industry and women experiencing complex circumstances or marginalisation such as homelessness, domestic violence, addiction etc. You will need to be passionate about creating inclusive spaces for women, and be intentional to promote opportunities for belonging, safety and greater choice. Ensuring service users are treated with respect, equality and dignity and to assist in caring for clients in a professional manner, appropriately and free of any bias is essential to the role.

Position details
Essential Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in the area of social work, community welfare or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Fluent language skills in Thai as well as English
  • Demonstrated experience in case work, preferably using a strengths based, client centred, trauma informed approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from marginalised backgrounds with respect, dignity and equality.
  • Demonstrated commitment to understanding the sex industry and the broader context of sex work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including computer skills along with the ability to work independently and also collaboratively as part of a team.
  • You are willing to undergo a Police Background check and Working with Children Check.
