STARTTS is a not-for-profit Affiliated Health Organisation focused on providing a broad range of services to refugees in NSW. The focus of STARTTS approach is on building capacity and empowering people and communities to take control over their own lives, using a strengths-based approach and building on individual, family, community and cultural strengths.
This position will be responsible for managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring funding targets to training are met, delivering workshops, presentations, designing training materials; and resourcing, coaching and mentoring other staff around trainings. This position will be required to conduct one to two trainings per week with the rest of the time spent in the office organising activities and developing content. The successful applicant will be part of a multicultural and multi-disciplinary team.
You have relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, community development, health sciences, adult education or related discipline. A highly developed counselling and/or incidental counselling and related advocacy skills in working with people from refugee backgrounds with a minimum of two years of practical experience. An understanding of refugee and asylum seeker experiences and the impacts of torture and trauma. You have expertise in the facilitation of professional development to health and community services and practitioners as well as experience delivering effective trainings for audiences with a wide range of English language and educational backgrounds.
You will be a highly motivated person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.

Work Type: 38 hours per week. Contract up to 1 year (continuation subject to ongoing funding)
Salary: Health Education Officer (range $60,900 to $90,200 depending on experience and qualifications), or relevant classification. Employees with previous eligible service recognisable for salary and entitlement purposes must produce proof of that service by way of statement/certificates of service from the former employer.
A generous salary packaging scheme is also offered to reduce the taxable income and increase the take home pay.
