You will provide casework, youth work, practical assistance, housing support, information and referral, education and advice and support services to children and young people (aged 12-17 years) and/or their families.

You will work in a trauma informed, highly responsive, proactive and innovative way, and develop collaborative relationships with other Weave team members and other services to ensure holistic support to young people experiencing co-existing mental health and AOD issues.

You will feel supported through regular supervision, access to peer review, opportunities for training and development and a friendly and experienced team around you.

Strong casework experience with young people with complex issues is required and experience working with Aboriginal young people and communities will be highly valued.

Classification for this position is SCHCADS Award Level 4 Paypoint 1-4 depending on qualifications and experience. Hourly rate range: $37.02 - $39.89 per hour depending on qualifications and experience plus salary packaging benefits.

Position details

* Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Social Sciences, Social Work or other relevant      discipline

*  Minimum two years experience in youth work

Essential Selection Criteria:

1. Demonstrated experience in providing holistic casework and case management to young people with complex needs and trauma histories.

2. Good understanding of the systemic social justice issues facing young people who live in the Redfern/Waterloo and surrounding areas, particularly Aboriginal young people. 

3. Knowledge and understanding of relevant referral pathways to health, education, employment,recreational, cultural, housing mental health, drug and alcohol and other support services.

4. Understanding of and ability to work in a trauma informed, strength based, person centred, culturally safe way with young people and families.

5.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

6. Common sense, strong problem solving skills and an excellent sense of humour.

7. A commitment to EEO policy WHS safety standards, ethical practice principles and a commitment to the principles of cultural diversity.

8. Current NSW Class C drivers license and willingness to use own car for work purposes

 9.Current NSW Working With Children Check clearance

10.Computer literacy

Desirable Selection Criteria:

1.Knowledge of service networks in the area

2. Current First Aid certificate

3. Experience in and/or training in cross-cultural communication

4. Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal young people and communities
