Caseworker - 12 month maternity leave contract position

Staying Home Leaving Violence Program

Project:  Casework and community development model enabling women (and children) ending a violent relationship to remain in their home.  Through supporting women who choose to stay in their home this project will assess safety needs, seek to improve social, health, economic and legal outcomes for families, reduce homelessness and promote accountability for offenders of violence.

About us

Parramatta/Holroyd Family Support Inc. is a non-government organisation funded by Family and Community Services.

The centre provides a variety of services for families, these include: information, referral, community development, counselling, support services, home visits and group work.  

We are currently seeking an experienced Caseworker, for the Staying Home Leaving Violence Program, in the Parramatta and Holroyd LGA. 

Position details

Relevant Tertiary Qualifications : eg. Social Work, Counselling or related fields.

Essential Selection Criteria:

• Relevant Tertiary Qualifications eg: Social Work, Behavioural Sciences 

• Experience working with women who are experiencing domestic violence 

• Demonstrated understanding and experience in case management of people with complex support needs including outreach and advocacy. 

• Demonstrated high level communication skills including negotiation and report writing. 

• Experience networking with multidisciplinary services and agencies and ability to build and foster relationships within a changing sector climate. 

• Conceptual skills, with sound analytical and problem solving ability. 

• Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, social policy and issues that face women in Western Sydney. 

• Ability to work effectively within a small team. 

• Computer and internet skills. 

• Current driver’s licence and comprehensively insured vehicle.
