This role has responsibility for providing software and hardware support, user training, troubleshooting, policy and technology development to BGF, including the following:

  • Hardware: New device setup, new employee setup, administration and maintenance of existing desktop and laptop computers, maintenance of peripheral equipment such as printers, projectors, etc., disposal of obsolete equipment;
  • Software: Provision of desktop support (primarily Microsoft Office applications including Outlook), maintenance of the software environment, Windows updates, virus protection, Group Policy, Mail system maintenance and administration (Exchange and O365), software administration and installation, support for future operating system upgrades;
  • Telephony: Maintenance and administration of the fixed line VoIP telephone system, mobile phone support.
  • Network: Maintenance of the Active Directory, support for Remote Desktop, network troubleshooting, support for regional and out of State offices and
  • Other responsibiltiies: Contributing recommendations to strategy development and implementing changes to improve IT functioning throughout the organisation, liaising with the Data Administrator/Data Analyst on database administration matters, assisting the Operations Manager to build and maintain relationships with major vendors and suppliers, design, implementation and maintenance of an IT helpdesk function that provides BGF workers with rapid problem resolution or problem escalation, working collaboratively with the Operations team to undertake additional projects as agreed with the Operations Manager and/or CEO from time to time

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) is Australia’s longest serving HIV charity, providing practical, emotional and financial support, financial counselling, housing and employment support to the most vulnerable people living disadvantaged by HIV in New South Wales and South Australia using a casework/case management/community support work model of care.

Position details

Ideally you will have had experience in a similar position, possess outstanding interpersonal skills and have a broad knowledge of computer systems, both legacy systems as well as where future technology is headed.

You will be pro-active in thinking about future applications, confident in dealing with staff at all levels and able to establish and maintain stakeholder relationships at an operational and strategic level.


Essential Selection Criteria:


  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
  •  High-level computing expertise in particular in programs such as Microsoft Suite including Office 365 and SQL databases.
  •  An understanding of the role databases play in business processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proven problem solving skills 
  • Demonstrated experience in successful project management including project plans, timelines, budgets and reporting.
  •  Experience in implementing operational plans and operating within budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to network, negotiate and build relationships both internally and externally.


Desirable Selection Criteria:


  • Tertiary qualification with computing
  • Experience in thinking strategically and providing input for strategic plans.

Package and Requirements

  • Tenured role
  • Annual salary - up to $60K p.a. dependent upon experience and skills; pro-rated
  • Superannuation contribution of 9.5% paid by BGF
  • Salary packaging available
  • 35 hour working fortnight (0.45FTE) based on a 76 hour working fortnight
  • 20 days annual leave per annum with 17.5% leave loading, pro-rated
  • Mobile phone provided
  • Office located in Surry Hills, Sydney, NSW

  • The position is subject to a 6 month probationary period, with an immediate start.
