The Speak out Caseworker will provide casework, youth work, practical assistance, housing support, information, education and support services to young people (aged 12-28 years).

The successful candidate will have experience in providing individual casework and case management to support young people with complex trauma histories and complex needs including mental health and AOD challenges. 

The successful candidate will feel supported through regular supervision, access to peer review, opportunities for training and development and a friendly and experienced team around you.

Classification for this position is SCHADS Award Level 4 Paypoint 1-4 depending on qualifications and experience. Hourly rate range: $35.33 - $38.10 per hour depending on qualifications and experience plus significant salary packaging benefits.

The Speak Out program works with young people with co-existing mental health and

alcohol and other drug challenges.

Qualifications:

Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Social Sciences, Social Work or other relevant discipline. 

Essential Selection Criteria:

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  1.  Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Social Sciences, Social Work or other  relevant discipline       
  2.  Two years or more experience in youth work.
  3.  Experience in providing casework and case management to young   people with complex needs including mental health and AOD issues.
  4. Good understanding of the social justice issues facing young people who live in the Redfern/Waterloo area, particularly Aboriginal young people.
  5. Knowledge and understanding of relevant referral pathways to health, mental  health, drug and alcohol and support services.
  6.  Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  7.  Excellent sense of humour.
  8.  A commitment to EEO policy OHS safety standards, ethical practice         principles and a commitment to the principles of cultural diversity
  9.  Current NSW Class C drivers license and willingness to use own car for work  purposes
  10.  Current NSW Working With Children Check clearance
  11.  Computer literacy

  1.  Counselling skills and experience   
  2. Knowledge of service networks in the area
  3.  Knowledge and practice of trauma informed care principles
