The Support Worker (Women & Families) will enable clients to feel safe and supported by providing assistance with practical tasks and supporting their case plans in line with the mission and values of TSA. This role requires travel between two sites – Sydney Inner City and Inner West (confidential sites). We have 2 casual positions available

Position details
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Community Services, Social Work or related discipline.
Essential Selection Criteria:
  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Criminal History Check & Clear Working with Children Check
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
  • Current Senior First Aid & Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
  • Flexibility with work hours and location of work (Sydney Inner City & Inner West) to meet the operational requirements of the position.
  • Must be available to fulfill overnight/sleepover shifts.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a community setting, particularly working with those experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, drug and/or alcohol addictions, Domestic and Family Violence and Going Home Staying Home.  
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the community services sector in NSW, with a specific emphasis on homelessness and family/domestic violence (including issues, trends, resources & services etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key service providers.
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
  • Willingness to undertake further training for professional development
Desirable Selection Criteria:
  • Experience in Trauma Informed Care approach, and domestic and family violence.
