About Us

LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) is the national peak health organisation in Australia for organisations and individuals that provide health-related programs, services and research focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people and other sexuality, gender and bodily diverse people and communities. LHA works with legislators, policymakers and service providers to help them understand and address the needs of LGBTIQ+ people and communities. We support LHA members to have a stronger policy voice and partner with researchers across the country on issues of LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing.

About The Role

This role is responsible for coordinating the key deliverables of the QLife program. This role will support the QLife Manager to ensure the programs achieve the intended outcomes. QLife provides Australia-wide anonymous, online and telephone peer support to LGBTIQ people across Australia. All roles at LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) place the needs of LGBTIQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, BrotherBoys and SisterGirls as a priority across programs. It is a requirement that all staff ensure that all aspects of their work includes LGBTIQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, BrotherBoys and SisterGirls consideration.

To be considered for this role, you will have the following experience and qualifications; Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in mental health and wellbeing, education, social science or other relevant field.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Desirable)

Essential Criteria

Experience Required

  • Excellent knowledge of Telephone and Teleweb service delivery.
  • Two years program coordination experience.
  • Robust and contemporary knowledge of the current health issues affecting LGBTIQ people, especially mental health and suicide prevention.
  • Good knowledge of the current health disparities and issues affecting indigenous LGBTIQ, BrotherBoy and SisterGirl communities, especially within the area of mental health and suicide prevention.
  • Understanding of and commitment to human rights for LGBTIQ people and communities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the health and human rights of LGBTIQ people and communities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the workings of government (Commonwealth and State/Territory), and of the health sector.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in environments where a high degree of judgement, imitative confidentiality and sensitivity is required.
  • Experience in planning and implementing strategies and program systems to bring about change.
  • A proven track record of planning and using diverse influencing strategies to achieve organisational goals.
  • Computer Skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
