  • Permanent Part time.
  • $55 - $57 per hour. 30 hours per week.

As the Fletcher Street Cottage Manager, you will oversee the development, management and evaluation of all homelessness services and projects within the organisation at the Fletcher St Cottage Hub.

Organisational Responsibilities

  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of the Byron Community Centre within a collaborative and inclusive framework.
  • Lead and support a team of Community Support Workers, Breakfast Coordinators, a Welcome Worker and an Administration Assistant
  • Lead and manage Homelessness Projects including evaluating and prioritising the program of work and identifying resourcing options to ensure the delivery and management of Homelessness initiatives.
  • Identify and develop new initiatives and continuous improvement activities as part of a continuous improvement process in your work, team and organisational goals.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including: Council, Collocated service providers, donors, BBCA management and staff.

 

Operations Management

  • Undertake responsibility for operations at the Fletcher St Cottage including planning, coordination, implementation and administration.
  • Monitor and interpret legislation, regulations and other best practice publications in the Homelessness sector and apply to Homelessness activities and programs
  • Foster collaboration. Manage and maintain positive working relationships with collocated service providers and partners.
  • Implement Work Health & Safety systems and audits including WH&S Risk Assessments, Risk Management and Emergency Plans.
  • Participate in the ‘End Rough Sleeping Byron Shire’ project and contribute to collaborative responses to end rough sleeping.
  • Provide evidence-based reports on the progress of Homelessness programs and make recommendations.
  • Project management including implementing new and novel projects, data collection and evaluation experience.

 

Financial and Human Resource 

  • Oversee program and project management of grants and donations including the development of funding agreements, memorandum of understanding and deeds of grant.
  • Prepare program budgets in liaison with management.
  • Monitor the performance of staff and volunteers to ensure duties are performed in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ensure all volunteers have a clearly defined role and role description upon commencement and a clear understanding of their role.
  • Provide expert guidance and assistance to volunteers and staff when dealing with complex situations and incidents.
  • Comply with the established BBCA Human Resource policies

Essential Criteria

  • Possession of relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in and commitment to the Homelessness Services Sector.
  • Proven experience working alongside vulnerable groups with complex needs to improve wellbeing outcomes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based responses to rough sleeping and homelessness
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge, skills and experience creating and maintaining successful strategic collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with the public, individuals experiencing disadvantage/homelessness (including trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practice) and other organisations.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including evaluation and outcomes measurement.
  • Experience developing appropriate planning and policy documents; funding submissions, research and report-writing.
  • Excellent computer literacy; demonstrated experience in MS Office suite of software.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, adapt to change.
  • An understanding and ethos of working within a not-for-profit organization.
  • Respect for privacy, confidentiality, equity and anti-discrimination.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • Commitment to the Byron Shire community.

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in media liaison; preparing media releases; documenting and collecting testimonials for media and funding acquittal purposes.
