ABOUT THE ROLE

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Community Network Development Officer to join our team in Surry Hills. This role joins a growing and collaborative team and will be responsible for organising and delivering events to increase awareness of our aged care advocacy services and ensure access and information is available for diverse groups in the community and support the use of self advocacy tools.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about coordinating and managing community development activities, organising events and engaging with community groups to expand the reach of our advocacy program.

This role has access to hybrid work arrangements which include a blend of office-based, community-based and remote working arrangements. This position is offered on a full-time max-term contract arrangement to the end of June 2025, aligning with our current funding period.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing broader community awareness of National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) and the role Seniors Rights Service plays in supporting older people, their families and representatives
  • Developing and supporting internal and external relationships and partnerships with community groups, charities, aged care facilities and volunteer organisations to improve community support and engagement
  • Coordinating community events involving other team members including aged care advocates
  • Supporting the development of meaningful campaigns to promote the work of Seniors Rights Service
  • Developing or tailoring resources that are effective for communicating with the audiences of partner organisations and networks
  • Some intrastate travel is required

Qualifications

ABOUT YOU

  1. Experience working in partnership with community, volunteer or charity organisations to improve community support and engagement
  2. Community development experience with a sound knowledge of community engagement principles
  3. Innovative approaches to reaching key audiences with information in formats that are effective in getting the message heard and used
  4. Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex information concisely to a diverse range of people
  5. Excellent planning skills including well developed priority setting skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  6. Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  7. Exceptional stakeholder management
  8. Excellent computer skills and experience in data entry including Microsoft Office 365
  9. Willing to use your own registered and comprehensively insured vehicle, where you will be reimbursed for work related milage claims
  10. Willingness to obtain an annual flu vaccination, be fully COVID vaccinated and hold a valid federal police record check
