This position will be based in the remote community of Wadeye. With the responsibility of supporting families to build strong connections within their community and to find ways to support their children and young people to feel heard.

The Northern Territory is one of the most culturally diverse places in the world.

Wadeye, also known as Port Keats, is one of Australia's largest remote Indigenous communities located approximately 420kms southwest of Darwin. The inhabitants of this community encompass seven language groups and five traditional bands or kinship groups.

In this role, you will have the privilege of working closely with aboriginal families and the experience of immersing yourself in an amazing part of the world.

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Development, Early Childhood and / or Psychology
  • Experience in applying early intervention and prevention activities that support the wellbeing of children, young people and families
  • Demonstrated ability to network effectively with other agencies to support a community approach to wellbeing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including report writing and case note writing
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
