The organisation

Burwood Community Welfare Services Incorporated (BCWS) is an established community organisation and charity with an extensive history of supporting and strengthening the community in Sydney’s Inner West.

The organisation’s services provide practical and emotional support to the disadvantaged, vulnerable and at-risk members of our community, and include:

·        Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Services

·        Family Support and counselling

·        Inner West Meals on Wheels

·        Neighbourhood Centre and Community Hall

The role

BCWS Inc. is looking for a new CEO to help rejuvenate and modernise the organisation and implement its strategic goals.

The role has oversight of and is accountable for all areas of management including strategy, people, operations, financial resources, risk, Management Committee and partnership engagement. The CEO also oversees the performance, outcomes and effectiveness of the Management Team.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in social work, counselling, psychology or similar.

Essential Criteria

  • A proven track record leading multi-disciplinary teams and an ability to foster a culture of collaboration and unite staff on a common goal.
  • Senior leadership experience at CEO or General Manager level, preferably in a community-based charity.
  • Strong operational and financial experience, in order to understand sustainability and risk mitigation.
  • Experience in an organisation delivering community-based services for vulnerable members of the community including women survivor/victims of domestic violence, children and families, refugees, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the aged and people with disabilities.
  • A relationship development mindset, including the identification and engagement of a diverse, sophisticated market and engagement through a range of channels.
  • Proven strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and deliver strategic innovation.
  • Demonstrated success in operational and service transformation.

Other Information

This is a 12-month contract role.
