About the role

The role of the Board is to oversee, and ultimately be responsible for the efficient, effective and accountable management of the organisation within the approved budget and in accordance with funding, legal requirements and its Constitution.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure a level of leadership and vision that will direct the operations and planning of the organisation and that accountability is ensured to its members, the community, stakeholders and funding bodies through compliance to ethical, contractual and legal requirements
  • Attend, participate and contribute to the organisation through attendance at Board meetings, reading staff and financial reports prior to each meeting, and support each other and the staff.
  • This is a voluntary position with agreed out of pocket expenses reimbursed
  • Board meets monthly for approximately 2 hours
  • There is no direct contact or work with clients

 

Experience and Requirements

  • Previous experience in a community organisation
  • Sound knowledge of governance
  • Willingness to work collaboratively
  • Working with Children Check, Police Check or willingness to gain these
  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccinations

Junaya Family Development Services

Junaya Family Development Services is an incorporated not-for-profit agency located in Blacktown.  We are seeking applications for interested people to fill Board vacancies, now and in the future.    Junaya is funded by NSW Department of Communities and Justice to provide casework and parenting programs to vulnerable families in the Blacktown Local Government area and employs 10 suitably qualified and experienced staff.

Junaya recognises that children, young people and families including our First Nations peoples, culturally diverse people, people with disability and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex have a variety of needs arising from different circumstances, experience barriers to social inclusion and therefore Junaya works towards reducing structural barriers and building their capacity through the provision of a range of services that maximise their opportunities and life chances.
