The role of this position is to provide therapeutic services in the form of counselling to couples, individuals and families potentially across a number of areas including:

  • Relationships or resolution of relationship difficulties
  • Coronial counselling to support people through bereavement and reduce the impact of trauma and vicarious trauma
  • Strengthening the wellbeing of people with disabilities, their families and carers engaging with the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disabilities.

This is an ongoing position available on part time or full time basis, based in Deakin, ACT.

To be successful in this role, you are required to possess:

  1. An appropriate tertiary qualification in social work, counselling, psychology or other similar field as well as demonstrated relevant experience.
  2. Ability to demonstrate a broad theoretical approach and practice frameworks appropriate to diverse client/family presentations and issues
  3. Demonstrated experience in counselling, trauma and child informed practice as well as knowledge of domestic violence, crisis intervention models, grief and loss in the context of family separation and child development.
  4. Demonstrated experience in therapeutic group work and/or educative programs.

The salary on offer is in the range of $84,242.14 to $87,176.86 per annum plus superannuation for full time. As a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), RACR employees also receive tax-effective salary packaging opportunities, thus significantly increasing the value of your take-home pay.

According to the RACR Enterprise Agreement, the successful candidate will have access to generous leave provisions, annual leave loading, special paid leave during annual holiday shutdown period and flexible working arrangements.
