2021 Message from Joanna Quilty, NCOSS CEO

As we turn the page on 2020, a year many of us would like to forget, we must recognise that we have, and still are, experiencing a seismic historical event.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the cracks  in our economies and our social safety nets.

Vulnerable communities have been pushed further into disadvantage, and those who have never considered themselves to be exposed have found themselves out of work, under pressure and in need.

....Our focus for 2021 -

Working with our members, the sector, business and other peak organisations to ensure we are putting in place the policies that support those in need and those on the edge - from more social and affordable housing, to cost of living relief and investment in community based, easy-to-access support services.

But it is not just about the policies - it must also be about properly resourcing the social service sector that does the heavy lifting in communities throughout NSW.

For too long, the NSW Government has taken the sector for granted. This year we change that.

I look forward to working with you all throughout the year to achieve this.
