The Insurance Law Service
The Insurance Law Service is set up to act as a point of first contact for the general public to get advice as to their rights and legal remedies when they are dealing with insurers or find themselves in an insurance dispute. They are also able to provide legal information sessions to groups or communities.

The Insurance Ombudsman Service
IOS independently and impartially resolves general insurance disputes, between consumers and participating companies. They can also assist you with your enquiries about general insurance matters. The service is free for consumers. www.insuranceombudsman.com.au

Australian Prudential Regulation Authority
APRA regulates the insurance industry. There has been a concern about using off-shore insurance providers. APRA has a list of Australian regulated insurers. www.apra.gov.au/General/New-or-Renewal.cfm

FIDO
Australian Securities and Investments Commission. Financial tips and safety checks. www.fido.gov.au
