Updated: 29 June 2010
From 1 July 2010 a process to divide the Community Services Grants Program into two streams will commence. The streams are:
-
a community strengthening stream (aligned with Community Builders), and
-
a families, young people and children service stream (aligned more closely to the Keep Them Safe Action Plan).
CSGP funded organisations should have received a letter from Community Services that indicated a stream the organisation may be placed. The stream is based on which sub-program the organisation was funded. In general, those organisations receiving funding under Community Development will be placed in the community strengthening stream and those funded under other parts will be placed in the families, young people and children service stream. Organisations can ask to change streams if they feel that the stream allocated is inappropriate.
NCOSS, LCSA, YAPA, NSW FamS and Western Sydney Community Forum have been discussing service delivery models with Community Services. The peaks will continue to talk to Community Services about the implementation and development of these changes.
Extra $10 million announced for Neighbourhood and Community Centres
Updated: 29 June 2010
The NSW Government announced an additional $10 million for "neighbourhood and community centres" on 8 June 2010 as part of the 2010-2011 NSW Government Budget. This represents a significant step forward in the campaign to secure decent levels of funding for services funded under the CSGP. Details on how this additional funding will be distributed have not yet been announced.
