The Management Support Unit (MSU) is part of the NCOSS Sector Development Unit.  This unit proactively supports and resources the development of a high quality and effective community sector through a range of industry development projects and initiatives.

It provides a broad range of services to enhance the organisational capacity of the non government sector in areas such as human resources, good governance and efficient ‘back office’ operations.

Services and Priorities 2012

The MSU is funded by the Ministry of Health, and Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC), to provide a ‘clearing house’ function through the provision of up-to-date information and resources on best practice management and governance.

Specifically this includes:

• Developing and promoting a range of resources including information sheets, templates, policies and procedures and other resources for promoting best practice
• Providing up-to-date clearing house functions through a number of directories on training, consultants, and regular e-bulletins
• Providing online and phone support, information and referral for targetted NGOs
• Securing funding for organisational and sector development initiatives such as leadership and management workshops and the organisation of conferences

The identified priority areas for 2012 include:

3. Performance management and appraisals
4. Organisational change management
