4 June 2010 NCOSS Director, Alison Peters said "NCOSS acknowledges the contribution Graham has made as a Minister in what is not an easy portfolio. He has been genuine in his attempt to get more resources focused on dealing with the underlying causes of behavior that leads to young people entering the juvenile justice system." While Mr West has indicated his desire to continue working on these issues in a non-partisan way when he leaves Parliament, Ms. Peters called on other Members of Parliament to take up these issues. "What we need are more politicians willing to speak up for those who have a great deal to offer but whose voices aren't heard so that they get the support they need", she said. "While we wish Mr West all the best for his future, and we look forward to working with his successor as Minister, we hope we have people both in Cabinet, Parliament and in the community willing to stand up for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our communities", Ms Peters said.
