NCOSS along with the CSGP Peaks have been involved in discussions with Community Services and the Minister regarding the future of CSGP. These meetings have considered CSGP having two streams:

  • a community strengthening stream (aligned with Community Builders), and
  • a families, young people and children stream (aligned more closely to the Keep Them Safe Action Plan)

Recognising the two streams does not take away from the current work being done through CSGP services but does provide an opportunity for the crucial work done by CSGP funded services to be more clearly articulated and recognised, especially by Government. NCOSS and the other sector peaks involved (LCSA, YAPA, NSW Fams and Western Sydney Community Forum) have agreed to continue discussing how these streams might best work and to consult our members and the sector about the implications of this approach.

It is clear however, that despite the prospect of some KTS funding maybe being available, there is currently no additional funding available for CSGP services. NCOSS and the CSGP peaks have made clear to Government that we will continue to advocate for adequate funding for both streams of CSGP to ensure the crucial work that the program currently allows can continue.

CSGP Campaign

NCOSS and the CSGP peaks seek your continued support in the campaign for increased funding.

Many organisations have written to the Premier and local members of Parliament who now recognise our determination and commitment to this issue.

The CSGP peaks are in the process of collecting the views of members regarding the new proposal which we will then relay to Community Services.

The Local Community Services Association (LCSA) is surveying its members and NCOSS encourages LCSA members to complete the survey on the LCSA website www.lcsa.org.au.
