Review of the NSW Health NGO Program PDF Print E-mail
9 October 2009
The NGO sector and NSW Health agreed to undertake a Review of the NSW Health NGO Program at a meeting in early December 2008.  NSW Health has prepared a discussion paper a Discussion Paper that presents issues for consideration.

It is expected that the Review will be completed by March 2010. The aim of the review process is to:

  • Ensure the NSW Health NGO Program funds NGOs which provide services that are aligned to community needs and delivering the most efficient, effective and responsive Health NGO Program practicable.
  • Ensure NGOs funded by NSW Health are ably supported by NSW Health to provide their services.

As part of the NSW Health Review of the NGO Program, consultation workshops will be held throughout NSW. We encourage you to attend the workshops to raise matters relevant to the NGO Review and discuss options for reform of the NSW Health NGO Program. Information about the Workshops can be found on the NSW Health NGO website (see Resources below):

Discussion paper

As part of the NSW Health NGO Review, a Discussion paper has been prepared that presents issues for consideration. The Discussion paper outlines a series of questions which will form the basis for the stakeholder consultation process throughout the review. In particular, the following issues are considered:

  • NSW Health NGO Program and its connections with the NSW State Health Plan
  • Types of services provided by the NGO Sector
  • Governance and management procedures for the NSW Health NGO Program
  • Communication links between NSW Health and the NGO Sector
  • Opportunities to reduce the administrative burden on the NGO Sector

Following consultation on these issues, NSW Health will develop a Recommendations Report that will propose strategic options and recommendations to reform the NSW Health NGO Program.
