9 March 2009 The NCOSS ICT Strategy Report "Community Connexions: Addressing the Information and Communications Technology Needs of the NSW NGO Human Services Sector” details a three-year integrated strategy to address the current and emerging ICT needs of the sector. Background
The report makes four primary recommendations and four secondary recommendations. The first set of recommendations have been further developed into discrete project proposals that require financial investment; NCOSS is currently seeking $3.21mil over 3 years from the NSW Government. The four secondary recommendations have the capacity to be implemented within existing resources. These recommendations have policy implications, particularly in relation to Government funding policy and Sector/ Government relations. Given the Government's increasing requirement for funded services to provide data, acquit funding and share information electronically, it is essential that the sector has the ICT capacity to meet these needs. Comprehensive research was undertaken by NCOSS to assess the
current and emerging ICT needs of the sector during 2007/08. The
findings, detailed in the NCOSS report "Community Connexions:
Addressing the Information and Communications Technology Needs of the
NSW NGO Human Services Sector”, reveals a pronounced need for much
greater investment in the ICT capacity of the sector and a compelling
case for making that investment now, and across the whole sector in
NSW.
