Joint COSS Submission: This submission on the governance and function of Medicare Locals argues that the major role of the non-government health and community services sector in making health care more accessible and responsive to people who are missing out on adequate health care must be recognised. It outlines the opportunities for government and the non-government health and community services sector to work together to build a better primary health care system.
NCOSS Submission: Endorses the recommendations of joint COSS Network submission and re-affirms the critical role of NGOs in the health system. Identifies the key principles that should underpin the operation of Medicare Locals and recommends additional objectives to reduce health inequities and promote wellness rather than illness. Also makes recommendations to improve consumer and community participation in the health system.
NCOSS Submission: to NSW Health on the Discussion Paper on Implementing the National Health Reform in NSW. NCOSS welcomes the expansion of Local Hospital Networks to the more comprehensive Local Health Networks (LHNs) in recognition of the broader range of services that comprise the health system.
