NCOSS submission: Joint Standing Committee Inquiry into the Health Care Complaints Commission Discussion Paper: Operation of the Health Care Complaints Act 1993. NCOSS supports the general position outlined in the Public Interest Advocacy Centre's submission to the Committee. NCOSS believes that any changes to the operation of the Act should be made in consideration of the overarching purpose of the health care complaints system to protect the health and safety of the public. For consumers, health professionals and the community to have faith in a complaints process it must be transparent, fair and accountable. NCOSS also makes comment on a number of specific issues.
NCOSS Submission: Consultation Paper on proposed arrangements for handling complaints, and dealing with performance, health and conduct matters. NCOSS supports national consistency in complains handling processes, however, has significant concerns about the model proposed in the consultation draft.
